The Law making process – A lecture by Honorable Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, Senator Makueni County

On 29th August, 1st years’ barristers’ class were privileged to have a lecture from Honorable Mutula Kilonzo Jnr. on the “Law Making Process” in their Legal Systems class. Honorable Kilonzo is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a member of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association, a member of the Law Society of Kenya, and an associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is also the Senator of Makueni County. Given his vast experience and extensive knowledge, Hon. Kilonzo delivered an elaborate and comprehensive lecture on the legislative process of law making and how the law governs the process citing key articles of the constitution.

What stood out the most from the lecture was not only his in-depth knowledge of the topic at hand but his passion to instill patriotism in every person he meets. He spoke very passionately about Makueni County, where he serves his people, which was impressive and worth emulating. All through the lecture, the class was active and lively. Students also had an opportunity to ask questions concerning the topic. Honorable Kilonzo was able to answer the questions to our satisfaction leaving no stone unturned.

At the end of the class, the students were more aware of policy making and were challenged to aspire to make good policies for the country. The barrister’s class were humbled to have a lecture from an individual held at a high esteem in the nation.

Special gratitude to the lecturer, Mr. Allan Mukuki for providing such a platform for his class and his passion for the class. We do not take it for granted. The students are eagerly anticipating for more interactive sessions with others of such caliber and other intriguing moments that can only be found in this prestigious four year course.
