Strathmore University is among the top 25 global performers in the provision of continuous professional development (CPD) according to the ranking by U-Multirank in the 2020 edition. 1,759 universities from 92 countries participated in the 2020 U-Multirank edition. Strathmore submits data to U-Multirank annually for benchmarking purposes. According this year’s ranking, one university from America, twenty from Europe, three from Asia and one (Strathmore University) from Africa made it to the coveted list.

U-Multirank is a European ranking system whose basic aim is to provide transparency about the diversity of higher education institutions. The indicator analyses the level of knowledge transfer by universities; that is, a university that is active in providing continuous professional education courses to companies and individuals.

Compared to other global rankings, U-Multirank provides information on a wide range of higher education institutions and enables the user to identify and compare institutions with similar profiles and missions.  The system looks at five dimensions: teaching and learning, research, knowledge transfer, international orientation and regional engagement.  It combines institutional ranking (comparing whole institutions) and field-based rankings, based on individual disciplines.  In contrast to other rankings, U-Multirank is user-driven: it leaves the decision on the relevance of individual indicators to users.

Continuous professional development is aligned to one of our values – lifelong learning – “we develop programs and adapt teaching methods that equip learners with skills and tools for innovation and adaptability”. Lifelong learning enhances social inclusion, active citizenship, and personal development, but also self-sustainability, as well as competitiveness and employability.
