Bachelor of Financial Services

Financial services is an area in the business ecosystem associated with the management of money, value creation, financial assets and property. A career in the financial services sector is potentially an appealing prospect to those who have keen interest and aptitude to work in the ever-growing sector, characterised by dynamism, digitalisation and constant innovation.

  • A very practical, case study-based approach is at the core of programme delivery. The BFS programme is designed to reflect the changing world of financial services and the digital disruption that comes with it.

  • The Bachelor of Financial Services (BFS) programme aims at unifying the financial services sector by providing a firm foundation in the world of work in financial management, business analytics and skills of people working in the financial sector, community development, asset and pension management, insurance sector, microfinance sector, banking sector, financial cooperatives sector and emergent financial services providers in general.

Students can choose an area of specialization in any of the five areas:

1. Banking
2. Microfinance
3. Financial Cooperatives
4. Asset Management

5. Insurance.

Applicants must meet the following requirement:

• KCSE aggregate grade of B-.
• 6 credits at O-level. A level 3 principal passes
• IB Diploma 34 points out of 45.
• A distinction in the Strathmore Entrance Exam.
• Proven leadership skills in school & community and outstanding performance in extra-curricular activities are an added advantage


All candidates meeting the entry requirement are required to sit the University entrance examination in English, Mathematics and an oral interview.


Interviews are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:00 am

Candidates are required to bring the following:

• Originals and copies of relevant academic certificates.

• 2 passport-size photographs.

• An original and a copy of the birth certificate or National ID or passport

• An entrance exam fee of KES 2,000.

Intake for the full tine programme is in March and June.
