Dr. George Njenga

Dr. Angela Ndunge

Deputy Executive Dean, Executive Education

Dr. George N. Njenga has been appointed as Executive Dean of Strathmore University, Business School. He has previously served as a Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research and Quality Assurance. He is also a senior lecturer in Strategic Governance, Ethics and Leadership. He has a PhD (honors’) in Political Philosophy from the University of Navarra, Spain. He has a Masters in Governance and Culture of Institutions from the same University. Dr. Njenga also has a Bachelor degree in Accounting, Masters in Business Administration and is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya.

He was the Director of the Strathmore School of Accountancy in 2002-2005. Whilst in that position, he successfully set up the Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Information Systems Audit Program (CISA) formal training programs for the first time in Kenya. He is a founding board member of the Association of African Business Schools and an International advisory board member of Global Business Schools Network.

He has published journal articles in the area of Political History, Governance and Family Economics.

Trained as a Business School Professor in IESE Barcelona, Lagos Business School and Gordon Institute of Business Sciences (GIBS), University of Pretoria and INSEAD, France.

Dr. Ndunge was the Vice-Dean in charge of Executive Education (East Africa) at Strathmore Business School. Prior to this she served as the faculty director. She is also the academic director of the one of the flagship leadership programs – Senior Managers Leadership Program (SMLP). She holds an Msc in Work and Organisational Psychology and a Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Psychology from the University of Nottingham. She is also a chartered member of the British Psychological Society. She is an experienced trainer and has designed and facilitated numerous leadership programs for executives in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda. She has also been involved in design and facilitation of in-company leadership programs for several companies such as KCB bank, Safaricom, Faulu/UAP/OM, AIG insurance among others. Dr. Ndunge’s areas of specialisation are: Training and leadership development, organisational development, occupational health and safety, workplace assessment and testing, workplace counselling and career development and work-related mental health.

Dr. Mungai was the Dean of SBS for the period 2008-2012 during which the school expanded its range of executive management courses and international partnerships. His previous assignments at Strathmore include serving as the Academic and Research Director of Strathmore Business School and as Deputy of the
Information Technology Centre. Earlier in his academic career, Dr. Mungai was a faculty member at the Department of Mathematics, University of Nairobi, Kenya.He was a board member of the Kenya government’s Youth Enterprise Development Fund from 2010 – 2012 and board chair of the Association of African Business Schools from 2016-2017. Currently, he is a committee member of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) Deans Across Frontiers
(EDAF), an advisory Committee member of Kenya’s Netfund Green Innovations Award and board member of Strathmore Dispute Resolution Centre (SDRC), Kenya.Dr. Mungai is also a facilit8 (UK) accredited mediator with focus on commercial and family dispute mediations He has been involved in consultancy work related to organization processes improvement, corporate  entrepreneurship, innovation and mediation.
Dr. Hilda Mogire is a faculty member at Strathmore Business School and her area of expertise is research method, monitoring and evaluation. Prior to her Associate Dean role at the School, Hilda was the Vice Dean Academics and Student Affairs, Strathmore Business School. She is also chairperson of Strathmore University Curriculum Committee.

Dr. Hilda has over 10 years’ experience in education leadership and management. She has a vast experience in programme development, curriculum development and review as well as capacity building programmes. Her research areas of interest are organization development, programme design, implementation and evaluation. Hilda has overseen several research initiatives at the Business School. The most recent project is the Easy of Doing Business in Kenya in collaboration with IBM Research Africa.

Hilda holds a Ph.D in Education (Research and Evaluation) and a Master of Education (Research and Evaluation) from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.

Dr. Hellen Otieno is a Senior Lecturer at Strathmore University. She has a PhD in Entrepreneurship from Strathmore University, a Master’s Degree in Economics and Bachelors’ of Education Degree both from Kenyatta University. She has over twenty years of teaching experience. In addition to her academic qualifications, Dr. Otieno has a certificate in Executive Coaching for Managers from Strathmore University. She is also an alumnus of International Faculty Development Programme of the Prestigious Gordon Institute of Business Science, University of Pretoria, South Africa where she learnt Case Study Teaching, Learning and Writing and alumnus of the IESE Business School, University of Navarra, Spain. Dr. Otieno, is currently serving as the Vice President, Membership for the International Academy of African Business Development (IAABD) a prestigious organization that draws membership of scholars from universities across the globe. Dr. Otieno was the Research Director in the former School of Management and Commerce. She has served as a member of the School Executive Committee since 2012 to date. In addition, to this she has served in various committees in the university among them, the University Curriculum Committee, the School of Graduate Studies Committee.

Dr. David Mathuva, is a Senior Lecturer and an Academic Director of the MSc. in Development Finance programme at Strathmore University Business School where he teaches accounting and finance. David holds a PhD in Business Administration (Accounting and Finance), a Master of Commerce (Forensic Accounting) and a first class honours degree in Bachelor of Commerce. He is a member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and a Fellow of Higher Education Academy, UK. David also served as the Faulty Director at Strathmore Business School. Previously, David worked at KPMG Kenya in the Risk Consulting department, Forensic Services. David has taught for over 13 years at both academic, professional and executive levels. David has also presented papers at national and international accounting and finance conferences. Dr. Nancy Njiraini is currently at Strathmore University Business School engaged in academic and executive education programs and serves as the Academic Director for management programs for Rwanda. Her work experience spreads across many years in various roles within practice of strategic management, marketing management and operations, as well as in training and facilitating corporate business and management courses in several organisations in Kenya and United Kingdom. Nancy has also taught academic courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and was an examiner and moderator for Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) for close to 10 years. Nancy’s academic studies include an MBA in Marketing, University of Leicester, an MSc and a PhD both from University of Glasgow. Her academic interests include consumer culture, societal marketing, lifelong learning in its various forms, critical thinking and connections between learning and output that impact social change. She was previously at University of Glasgow before coming to SUBS. Dr. Bernadette Mukhwana Wanjala holds a doctorate degree in Economics from Tilburg School of Economics and Management (TiSEM), Tilburg University, The Netherlands. She also possesses a Master of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi, a postgraduate diploma in Modelling and Accounting from the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague (The Netherlands) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Nairobi. In addition to teaching, she has thirteen years of experience in public policy research and analysis which she gained while working as a policy analyst at the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) and as a private consultant. Her areas of interest include public policy, public finance, development economics, gender aware macroeconomics, public financial management and impact evaluation. She has published more than twenty articles, including journal papers, book chapters and working/discussion papers mainly in the areas of macroeconomics, economic development and gender aware economics.

Muriithi Njogu has been the Director of Masters in Business Administration (MBA) Program at Strathmore Business School and Doing Business in Africa Program from 2014. He serves in other capacities within Strathmore namely, Chairman Blended Leaning Implementation Committee, Vice Chairman University Staff Welfare Committee, Member of Job Grading Committee and Member of Strathmore University Graduation Committee.

Muriithi has a degree in Economics, professional course in Accounting and Project Management and a Master of Public Policy and Management. He has attended several other courses like Leadership Development Program at SBS, Managing Globally at New York University, Behavioral Science of Management at YALE and is currently pursuing Senior Management Leadership Program at Strathmore Business School.
He is very passionate about social entrepreneurship and is currently the founder and mentor of three youth social enterprises in Kenya.

Stella Mwangi, is a School Manager, Undergraduate programs in Strathmore University Business school. She holds a Master in Business Administration (Strategic Management and Finance) from Strathmore University and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and Banking) from Kenyatta University. She is an affiliate member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Previously, Stella worked as the Director of Administration at Strathmore University where one of her heights was to see through the completion of Phase III project. She then served as a member of the University Management Board. Over the years she has developed skills in strategic planning, facilities management, budget development & analysis and administrative skills. Roy Were has been the director of Support and Administration services in Strathmore Business School from February 2016. Prior to that he held other positions in Strathmore Business School such as the Manager in charge of Quality Assurance & Internationalization as well as the Manager of the MBA Programs. Before joining Strathmore Business School, he worked as the Business Development Manager at the Informal Sector Business Institute and a Senior Associate in Assurance Services in PricewaterhouseCoopers, being a finalist of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of the UK.  The Master of Applied Philosophy and Ethics student with a background in Actuarial Science is a certified Balanced Scorecard Professional from the Balanced Scorecard Institute in Washington DC. He has also been trained in the Senior Management Leadership Program offered by the Strathmore Business School as well as the Managing for Results program offered by the Gordon Institute for Business Science. An avid reader of philosophy, history and literature, he has also attended quality training and accreditation seminars offered by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) as well as the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
