ICAEW
The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) is a professional membership organization, supporting over 138,000 chartered accountants around the world. Through its technical knowledge, skills and expertise, it provides insight and leadership to the global accountancy and finance profession.
The ACA Qualification
The ACA title from ICAEW is internationally recognised as the premier financial business qualification in more than 160 countries. The ACA provides full recognition within the accountancy and finance profession across leading financial centres like South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and US among others.
Members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) can study for the ACA and apply to join ICAEW. ICPAK members will be required to sit for three papers in total: two Technical Integration (TI) papers - Business Change and Business Reporting - and Case Study.
One needs to have completed relevant technical work experience in an ICAEW Authorised Training Employer (ATE) to apply for ICAEW membership.

Frequently Asked Questions
+ I am not yet a member of ICPAK. Can I join the classes?
Yes. You can apply for and attend classes provided you register with ICPAK by the end of June 2013. ICPAK Associate Members are now eligible to register for ICAEW. You would be at an advantage if you have had at least one and half years of work experience.

+ What if I am not employed by an ATE?
You could register with ICAEW as an independent ACA candidate. If you register and sit the two TI papers in November 2013, you will be eligible to attempt the Case Study examination in July 2014, whether you have ICAEW recognised work experience or not. But, you will still be required to obtain technical work experience before you become an ICAEW full member with an ATE.

+ When does the semester run?
The semester will run from May to November 2013. This is to cater for the needs of participants from the audit profession within their less busy season and to provide ample time to prepare for the November 2013 TI examinations.

+ What papers are being offered during the semester?
The papers offered are Business Reporting and Business Change. The Case Study will be offered in 2014.

+ What is the scope of the papers?
The papers require technical knowledge of Corporate Reporting, Audit and Assurance, UK Taxation, Business Analysis, Ethics and Law. The actual weighting of the subjects in the examination varies from paper to paper.

+ How will the classes be conducted?
The classes will be conducted between May and November on a weekly basis. Students will be provided with study packs for private reading. Classes will run from 8.30am to 4.30pm every Saturday except bank holidays and during University closure. This schedule is subject to revision at the discretion of the University. There will also be two weeks of intensive revision courses running from 8.15am to 5.00pm in October. Due to the intensity of the course and the rigour of the examinations, weekly tests will be held every Friday evening.

+ What is the class size?
The classes are restricted to a maximum of 30 students. Admission is on a first-come first-serve basis. This will provide an enabling environment for interactive study sessions. The participants can be drawn from ATE which mainly consists of multinational accounting firms and companies in the process of applying to become ATEs, as well as independent ACA students.

+ Are there any entrance exams?
The University will be holding oral interviews every Tuesday and Thursday in April and May 2013 (except bank holidays).

+ Do I need any documents for the Strathmore University interview?
Yes, please come with the following:
1. 2 passport-size photos;
2. A copy of your ID, or passport, or birth certificate; and
3. Copies and originals of academic and all your CPA professional certificates.
4. Shs. 1,000 for the interview fee.
