The SEDC currently offers one Course, which is Certificate in Entrepreneurial Management.
Course Objectives
The focus of the course is “practice-based” learning which encompasses discussion, participant-centred and case studies teaching methods, with the aim of enabling participants to develop judgement and problemsolving skills for their businesses. The course addresses the changing needs of managers of small and medium enterprises.Specifically, the objectives of the course are to:
- Demonstrate different successful business practices through the use of case studies
- Discuss with business owners and managers the important issues related to developing successful business practices.
- Provide hands-on experience as participants incorporate some of the learning points into their businesses
- Create peer networks among Kenyan micro, small and medium enterprise practitioners to share experiences, and provide support to each other as they incorporate different methods of management in their businesses
- To provide on-going mentoring to assist business owners to succeed and grow.Data collected during this activity will also be instrumental in assessing the effectiveness of the program
Course Design
The course is designed as a 270-hour program during which the participants cover two stages.

Stage 1: Starting and Managing a Business
- Stage 2: Business Management and Development.
The programme will be delivered in modules.This modular structure allows entrepreneurs to spread their skill development over a period of six months, making the programme compatible with their work and giving them time to implement the action plans they draw from each course in their workplace.
