Proclaiming peace atop Mt Kilimanjaro
A group of 15 students and staff from Strathmore University and other Kenyan universities climbed Mt Kilimanjaro and reached the Uhuru Peak which at 5895 metres is the highest point in Africa. The trip was organized by Mbagathi Study Centre. The students and staff wanted to send a message of peace to all Kenyans in these trying moments the country is going through. They displayed a banner at the Uhuru Peak calling for peace in the country.

Strathmore University Responds to Humanitarian Crisis
On Saturday 11th January, the Strathmore Business School's MBA class ran a medical clinic at Huruma Police Post in Nairobi's Eastlands. Over 700 patients were attended to by ten doctors, several pharmacists, a counselor, and other volunteers from the MBA class, the Aga Khan University Hospital and Shelter Forum.

Manu Chandaria graces SU's Quality Day
Strathmore University marked its 2nd annual Quality Day on Monday, 24th September 2007 with a talk on 'Gemba Kaizen: Common sense approach to low cost management' by industrialist Dr Manu Chandaria.
The day was a culmination of a week of activities which included students and staff voting for the quality icon – staff member who best represents the spirit of quality and the department that displays the highest degree of quality services and operations.

Employment rate for SU graduates is getting even better
THE rate at which Strathmore University graduates get jobs after completing their studies has continued to improve, says Vice Chancellor, Prof John Odhiambo. Statistics show that 76% of Bachelor of Information Technology (BBIT) graduates, for example, get jobs six months after completing their course and all graduates are placed two years after completing their studies.

'You deserve to be here', Vice Chancellor tells freshmen
Strathmore University Vice-Chancellor Professor John Odhiambo recently
described the University as an inspiring institution, in a wide-ranging
address to the 2007/2008 freshmen. Before the address, the Vice-Chancellor introduced members of the
academic council and the head of mentoring services.
Describing the
mentor-student relationship as a long-term inter-personal one, the
Vice-Chancellor said the university mentoring services gave every student
a personal advisor to help the student organise him/herself and become
academically efficient.

Competitiveness at Strathmore University.

SU Launches Kshs 26 Million Teacher's Project
ON MONDAY, 23rd April 2007, Strathmore University’s Institute of
Humanities, Education and Development Studies IHEDS) started a three
year programme aimed at enhancing leadership skills for head teachers
country wide. The Kshs 26 million programme will be funded by Project
Harambee, an initiative which promotes educational programmes in
Africa.

SU to be Chartered Soon
Thursday, 5th April 2007, was a historic day for Strathmore University. At 9 am in the morning, Professor Rosalind Mutua, Vice Chair of the Commission of Higher Education (CHE) and Vice Chancellor of Kiriri Women's University of Science & Technology, arrived on campus, together with the Commission of Higher Education (CHE) inspection committee.
The appearance of the inspection committee on campus portended good things for the future as this is the committee entrusted with the responsibility of carrying out the final inspection of a university prior to the granting of a charter.
At the end of the visit Professor Mutua indicated that the committee would be recommending the award of a charter to Strathmore University without conditions.

SU Quality Recertified
On Wednesday, 7th March 2007, Eng (Dr) Kioko Mang'eli the Managing Director of Kenya Bureau of Standards (KeBS) presented Prof John Odhiambo, the Vice-Chancellor of Strathmore University with the ISO 9001:2000 QMS renewal certificate.
The ceremony was held at Strathmore University. Also present at the ceremony was Dr Joseph Sevilla, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research and Quality Assurance and members of staff of KeBS and of the university.
In his presentation speech, Dr Kioko noted that Strathmore is the first university in Kenya to be certified and should act as a role model to other universities including its graduates who can be ambassadors in quality service provision in their areas of operation nationally and regionally. He also congratulated SU for achieving a nearly paperless system that maximally utilizes technology in all office transactions.
