Strathmore University rugby team "Leos" are the new champions of Kenya universities 7s rugby. In the preliminaries, Leos dismissed Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology 36 – 0, before beating Kenyatta University 49 – 0.

In their last group match, Leos beat hosts USIU 21 – 0 to qualify for the semifinals. Leos then beat JKUAT 47 – 0 in the semis before walloping Moi University 50 – 0 in the finals - the highest score of the tournament.

Leos used the tournament organized by USIU to prepare for national 7s circuit that will start in early October. Commenting on the win, head coach Mitch Ocholla said that his team displayed good execution of the systems especially defensive systems that worked well. The team did not concede even a single point in the tournament.
