Strath FC players warming up
|
The much talked about return leg match between Strath FC and the legendary AFC Leopards didn't disappoint. The match was played at the Strathmore University grounds on 3rd August and lived up to its expectations with both teams displaying great soccer.
The Leopards were very physical in their approach. But the home team responded well and its efforts bore fruit in the 30th minute when Rogers Kusimba converted a well delivered cross from James "Junior" Kombo to beat the Leopards goalkeeper and put Strath FC ahead.
Second half was tightly played with AFC pushing hard for a goal. But Strath FC’s strong defence and sleek passing denied the visitors a chance to level the scores. The match ended 1–0 in favour of the home boys.
"Am really happy to have won this game. Playing against your former team in never easy. It comes with a lot of emotions and old memories. I am impressed with the maturity our players have displayed against such a formidable side," said Mickey Weche, the Strath FC coach and a former Kenyan international and AFC Leopards star.
