Having won trophies all over the region, the university is yet to win a trophy on its own soil. This could change this coming weekend (29-30th September) as the university will be hosting its inaugural SU sports tournament at its sports facilities in Madaraka.

Sports to be competed in are soccer, basketball, karate, chess and hockey. The tournament dubbed Action is coming home promises to be a cracker considering that SU is a sports power house to reckon with in the East African region – it is the reigning EA hockey club champions. It is also the rugby Eric Shirley Shield (ESS) and Mwamba cup 2007 winners and several of its players are in national teams.
