The University's 2008 sports tournament will be held at the university sports grounds on 27th and 28th September. Eleven universities have confirmed participation. They are:  Moi, Egerton, Masinde Muliro, Mt Kenya, USIU, CUEA, KCA, JKUAT, Daystar, and Kenyatta.

The tournament is organized by the Sports Department. Tournament disciplines include basketball, soccer, hockey, karate and chess.

Ten universities participated last year. Strathmore teams performed well and were crowned the overall winners. Teams will use the tournament to prepare for the East Africa University Games that will be held in Dar Salaam in December.

Mr Isaac Mwangi, the University Sports Officer said this year's tournament will be a special one since the sports fraternity will be commemorating Eric Shiahale the former SU hockey coach who passed on early this year.

The tournament will also mark the last major sporting activity on the existing sports grounds before the sports grounds make way for the construction of new sports fields. Let us all come and support Strathmore teams.
