The victorious Wazee team
The staff soccer team (Wazee) are the new champions of the annual university 6-aside soccer tournament. The Wazee team dismissed the students by showing a slow but controlled game that displayed experience and a good understanding of the game, which ended up frustrating the fit and quick students.

In the preliminaries, the staff team had to fight hard to emerge leaders in group A by beating defending champions "All Blacks" by a solitary goal. In the quarter finals, the staff team beat a hard fighting "Nyundo" 3-2 on post match penalties. In the semi finals, the staff team played the defending champions "All Blacks" again and beat them 2–1 to proceed to the finals.

In the finals the well oiled Wazee machine demolished the students "Samba" team 3-1 in post match penalties. Last year, the Wazee team was eliminated in the quarter finals in a tournament that saw a record 103 students taking part by forming different teams. This year, the tournament improved in popularity with a total of 210 players registered to represent different teams.

There was also a 5-aside basketball tournament this year. Team "Muthurwa" beat team "Ole Sangale" to win tournament. Winners were presented with trophies and medals by the Dean of Students, Mr Paul Ochieng'. Mr Ochieng said that he was proud of the Wazee team because they are now leading from the front.
