  SOA students excel in ACCA

Maureen Kyambi
In 2004, Maureen Kyambi Kitheka was awarded a European Union scholarship to pay for ACCA tuition at Strathmore.

University's School of Accountancy. She registered with ACCA in June 2004 and did her first ACCA exams in December 2004.

Maureen was top three in Kenya in her last sitting in December 2006. Maureen is now at Deloitte and touché. "God blessed me with a diligent mind... I managed to complete the 14 papers in five sittings," Maureen said.

"My biggest challenge as I pursued my studies was raising the examination fees on time. I also had a hard time balancing my studies with work when I got my first job as it involved a lot of travelling round the country," she added.

Ashwin Sanghani who sat his last ACCA exams has also flown the SOA flag high. He registered with ACCA in December 2004 and topped in papers 1.1, 1.2, 2.2, 2.4 and 3.2 in Kenya. He sat his last papers in June 2007.
