Mr George Waititu, the Managing Director of Steadman Group will on Thursday 6th December preside over the graduation of the third group of Steadman Applied Research Program (SCART) participants in the auditorium. The vent will begin at 2.30pm. The program is offered by Strathmore Business School in partnership with the Steadman Group.

The program was launched in January. The occasion will mark the end of the first year of (SCART) and the launch of the 2008 program. SCART is a unique training program in Applied Market and Social Research. It delivers hands on holistic experience in writing proposals, designing research studies, applying qualitative and quantitative research skills, presentation skills and report writing.

It is the first training programme in East Africa to focus on the 'hands-on' practice and application of quantitative and qualitative business focused research.  Since its inception, the programme has attracted considerable interest from the media, business and the academic community.

The program is eight weeks long. More than 75 participants have attended the program in three successive groups. 15 participants from the third group will be awarded certificates on Thursday.

Quality research is an essential component to high-level, informed decision-making in public and private sector organisations. SCART combines technical skills building with the execution of a client generated research project – from taking a research brief through to presenting the findings with strategic recommendations.

Participants have carried out research for such organisations as National Aids Control Council (NACC), Royal Media Services, Reckett Benkiser, UKC, EABL, and NTV, Adopt a Light, Safaricom, Ketepa, and ISS under the program.

SCART is an example of Strathmore's collaboration with industry. For more information about the SCART programme, please visit www.sbs.ac.ke
