  Leos Win Trophy in Nakuru Rugby Tournament

The "Leos" Strathmore University rugby team won the plate trophy in the Great Rift Nakuru 10 a side rugby tournament over on 1st to 3rd June. Leos who were seeded for the first time in the tournament owing to their performance last year when they made it to the semi-finals. They were in the same pool with JKUAT, Kabarak University, and hosts Nakuru.

On the first day of the tournament, Leos declared their intentions by beating Kabarak University 14–0. In the second game, Leos narrowly lost to JKUAT 7–5.

On day 2, Strathmore were to play the hosts Nakuru but were given a walkover and qualified for quarter finals of the main cup. They played Impis from Uganda, in a tightly contested quarter final match that saw them narrowly edged out by Impis 3–0 through a solitary penalty kick.

The result meant Leos qualified to play in the semi-final of the plate trophy where they met hosts Nakuru. Leos edged out the hosts 7-0 in front of a capacity home crowd and proceeded to the finals.

In the finals, Leos met the hard fighting Kenyatta University's Blak Blad. The game was locked in a 5-5 draw by half time. In the second half Leos showed their might and resilience and won 27–5 to lift the plate title.

Meanwhile Leos got closer to their promotion campaign to the Kenya Cup League after beating Nondescripts 8–0 in the Eric Shirley Shield (ESS) first leg quarter finals match played at Nairobi School. The second leg match will be played in two weeks at Nondescripts.
