  Strathmore "Leos" Extend Lead

Strathmore University rugby team better known as "Leos" extended their lead in the Eric Shirley Shield (ESS) Kenya Rugby Football Union (KRFU) league by beating Kisumu RFC in Kisumu 22–12 on 19th May. Leos had expected a tough game away at Kisumu but this was not to be as they took control of the game early in the first half.

Kisumu were the first to touch down but Leos showed their resilience by coming back four minutes later to lead 7–5 through a Hastins Nyariki try. Leos piled pressure on the physical home team through moving the ball easily which saw the home team give in a few fouls.

The first half ended by Hastins Nyariki putting in another try for Leos. Joshua Gathumbi converted for Strathmore to take the lead 12–5. The second half was no different as the Leos continued asserting themselves which saw Odote Martin put in a try after a well orchestrated maul.

Kisumu fought back and got a try back as Leos put in the last try of the game through the hard working Joshua Gathumbi. This guaranteed Strathmore a bonus point from the 4 tries they made.

Leos exhibited solid game that saw their scrum half Kariuki Njoroge named the man of the match. Leos also extended their lead in the pool A of ESS by amassing a total of 31 points
