Strathmore University was awarded Premier Plus Status by ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) under its University and College Registration Scheme (UCRS). This is the highest level of accreditation under the scheme.
Strathmore University is the 3rd ACCA tuition provider in Africa to receive such an award (the first in the eastern African region). UCRS is designed to recognize tuition providers who meet a set of specific quality criteria.
There are three levels of recognition
- Registered (entry level)
- Premier
- Premier Plus (highest)
Eligibility
In order to be eligible to apply for Premier Plus status, a tuition provider must first demonstrate that it is able to meet the appropriate results targets over two consecutive examination sittings. The results targets for each examination session are based on ACCA's worldwide pass rates
on application tuition providers are assessed against five areas of performance:
Facilities
Tuition providers should provide a suitable and comfortable physical environment in which all students can prepare themselves for the examinations.
Student Support
Tuition providers should provide a supportive environment for students. Staff should be available to deal with and reply promptly to student queries.
Materials
All promotional materials must comply with the UCRS Advertising Regulations.
- Promotional materials should provide sufficient information on courses to enable students to make informed choices. All information provided in promotional materials should be accurate and comprehensive. Promotional materials must not include any claims by tuition providers which are subjective or are not possible to confirm by third party verification, for example any claims regarding pass rates achieved by the college or university, other than those provided by ACCA.
- Support materials should provide students with full information on the institution, its courses, rules and regulations. Students should be confident in their understanding of the operation of the course and institution with which they have enrolled.
- Study materials should provide students with full information on the course structure and subject coverage to enable students to plan their studies effectively. Students should be provided with study material which, combined with the tuition provided, will adequately prepare them for the examinations.
Tuition
Tuition providers should be committed to the highest standards of tuition focused towards the success of students in ACCA examinations. Tuition providers should have formal development plans for tutors to ensure that their knowledge and teaching skills are kept up-to-date.
Course Management
Tuition providers should establish robust monitoring and control procedures with respect to student attendance, student performance, and student feedback. This information should contribute towards the continuing development of the courses. |
