The Papal Nuncio to Kenya, H.E. Archbishop Alain Paul Lebeaupin, graced the 2006 academic year inaugural Mass. He arrived at the university campus shortly after 11am, he was received by the pro-chancellor Msgr Albert Pampillon, the vice-chancellor Prof John Odhiambo among others. He was given a tour of the campus and then proceeded to sign the visitors book.
In his homily, he urged the Strathmore community to be aware of their social responsibility to make this world a better place. He also spoke of the need for peace, he said "we should be peacemakers wherever we are". "The Holy Father has been emphasising on peace and I bring the Pope's blessings to you here in Strathmore, we should very much bear in mind the Holy Father's intention of world peace".
After the Mass, His Excellency was treated to a sumptuous meal at the university's cafeteria. |
