The Masters in IT (MSIT) students held a seminar on Tuesday, 2nd September where they presented their projects. The projects were the final part of their degree program. The projects addressed varied technological issues.
Ananda Fanon, now a lecturer in the Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) was the first to present his project titled: "A Secure M-Payment Model for M-Commerce in Kenya". He was followed by Rose Njoroge. Rose’s project was titled "An Evaluation of the Use of Electronic Databases by Academic Institutions: The Case of Catholic University of East Africa".
The third presenter was Brettah Muthuri whose project was titled "Business Value on the IT Investments: The Case of Kenyan Insurance Companies". Another FIT lecturer Maureen Olembo was fourth to present. Her project was titled "Mobile phone voting using blind signature protocol".
She was followed by Augustine Kinuthia whose project was titled " A GIS based decision model for determining the best path for connection to a power distribution network (A case study of Kenya Power & Lighting Company Ltd).
John Oredo, a teacher at Strathmore School was next with his project titled "A framework for evaluating ICT use in teacher education: a case study of the Primary Teacher Training Colleges in Kenya". Then Davidson Thaba presented his project titled "A framework for optimizing internet bandwidth utilization".
Muendo Katiku presented his project on "Information Security Awareness in the Kenyan Aviation Industry". Lawrence Muriira was the last presenter. His project was on addressing ubiquitous information dissemination in the agricultural sector using WAE and WAP technology in Imenti South District.
The students graduated on 12th September. They made history as the first Masters graduates in IT from a private university in Kenya.
