  Library Catalogue now on Internet
Libary Catalogue
Bernard Shiundu, the Systems Librarian
The university's library catalogue is now available on the internet. This means it can be accessed at anytime from anywhere in the world at www.lib.strathmore.edu.

The catalogue is the same as the one available on the intranet. Users can make reservations, online renewals, search the catalogue, update personal details, and make purchase suggestions etc.

Bernard Shiundu, the Systems Librarian says the development should reduce traffic at the counter by at least a third. It also means an extension of library services beyond the university's operational limitations.

"This is especially important for part-time students. A great proportion of the patron population is made up of evening/part-time students. These are also most affected by the limited library opening hours," says Mr Fidelis Katonga, the University Librarian.

Bernard added that the development is a trailblazer. "We are the first and only university library in the country that has successfully implemented open source. The availability of the catalogue on the internet is a testament to the rest of the world on this success," he added.
