Dr Richard Leakey was a Cabinet Secretary and Head of Civil Service in the Government of Kenya. He visited Strathmore University on 7th July 2005 invited by Mr Luis Borrallo, the Director of Advancement and External Relations. Upon arrival at the campus, he was received by Prof T.C.I. Ryan, Chairman of the University Council and Mrs. Bernadette Musundi, University Council member.

He was given a tour of the new library and auditorium by the University Librarian, Mr Fidelis Katonga and the Director of Strathmore Business School, Mr George Njenga. Dr. Leakey was very pleased by what he saw and he said he was more than willing to help us in our development plans by introducing us to people in Kenya and abroad. He also agreed to be part of the Advisory Board of Strathmore Business School.

Later he posed for some photographs with our Vice-Chancellor, Prof John Odhiambo, and some staff and students. We look forward to working with him and benefiting from his contacts and experience.
