KYBT Partners with SU to Encourage Entrepreneurship

The Kenya Youth Business Trust (KYBT) has partnered with Strathmore University (SU) to encourage entrepreneurship among young disadvantaged Kenyans.

An international chapter of the Youth Business International established by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales in 1983, KYBT fights youth unemployment by supporting new business ventures and providing young people with personal development opportunities.

Under the KYBT-SU partnership, volunteer Strathmore University students will help young entrepreneurs to write business plans under the auspices of KYBT. This initiative was born out of KYBT's realisation that many would-be young entrepreneurs fail to secure funding for their business ideas for lack of proper business plans.

At the formal signing of the partnership on February 16, KYBT's Richard Kiplagat and SU Vice Chancellor, Prof John Odhiambo, expressed hope that the initiative would help more disadvantaged Kenyan youth access capital for their businesses. In attendance were SU Community Outreach Programme Director Martyn Drakard and KYBT's Trustee, Margaret Pearson.
