Kuali, Strathmore University's new accounting system went live on Monday, 2nd July 2007. Kuali is an open source financial management system that addresses core financial operations. It is developed by universities for universities. It was originally developed by Indiana State University but it is now entrusted to a community of developers.
SU is the first institution to go live with the Kuali Financial Resources Systems (Kuali FRS) worldwide says John Robinson of rSmart, a founding partner of Kuali Project (www.kuali.org) the community that develops Kuali.
"I am certain that the entire Kuali Board and all those from the 11 institutions who have contributed to the release you went live with will be most gratified that their outstanding efforts have proven meaningful so quickly to such a deserving group," John wrote in a congratulatory message to those involved in the implementation of Kuali.
Kuali FRS was recently upgraded using state of the art software tools and is supposed to automate accounting processes and reduce paperwork, give detailed, accurate and timely reports with less effort, increase audit controls, support financial management and reporting for fund accounting, functional activities and programs.
