Karate team second behind national team

Strathmore University Karate team got 24 points to narrowly lose the Parklands championship to the Kenya national team which got 24.1 points. The competition was held on 22nd September 2007 at Parklands Sports Club.

The SU team led by coach Sensei George Otieno included Bernard Shibwabo, Stephen Rigii, Mercy Ombuya, Lemmy Munene, Wendy Wamaitha and John Mwangi. It  was the only educational institution in the championships.

SU ladies scooped the second and third positions in the Kata category which is one of the two categories in a Karate competition. Despite the team fielding one man less in Kumite (combative karate), it fought hard to the quarter finals. Kudos to the team.
