Conferment of Degrees - Graduation 2005

Strathmore University(SU) for the first time conferred Degrees to students taught and examined under the supervision of its own Academic Council. The ceremony began punctually with a colourful academic procession led by the Registrar of Academic who was carrying the framed Letter of Interim Authority which allow Strathmore to operate as a University. At the end of the procession was the Chancellor Delegate Monsignor Albert Pampillon who represented the Chancellor H. E. Bishop Javier Echevarria, Prelate of Opus Dei and the Vice-chancellor Prof John Odhiambo.

Once the guests had settled on the dais the Strathmore choir led the National Anthem, which was followed by a prayer from the University Chaplain who petitioned God to grant the gradaunts wisdom and long-term vision in all their endeavours.

The Vice-Chancellor then pronounced the words of invocation to constitute the assembly as a Congregation of Strathmore University. He then invited the chairman of the University Council Prof. Terry Ryan to make his address.

Professor John Odhiambo, the Vice-Chancellor made his address, then invited the Chancellor Delegate to address the first Congregation of SU.

The various Deans of Facilities and Heads of Schools presented the gradaunts who were to be conferred with Degrees and awarded Diplomas. The graduands of Professional Courses were also recognised in the ceremony. Achievement awards, Special awards and Certificate of Lectureship awards were also presented.

The ceremony concluded soon afterwards with the Vice-Chancellor dissolving the Congregation. The National Anthem was song and the Academic Procession exited.
