Pro-Chancellor Monsignor Albert Pampillon will preside over the ceremony
Strathmore University will hold its 2008 graduation ceremony on Friday, 12th September at its Madaraka campus beginning at 10am. It is the first graduation since the University received its Charter in April.  The ceremony will be aired live on CITIZEN TV.

The University's Pro-Chancellor who is also the Vicar of Opus Dei in Eastern Africa countries Monsignor Albert Pampillon will preside over the ceremony. In total, 816 graduates will be awarded certificates, diplomas and degrees.

Strathmore will for the first time award Post-Graduate Diplomas and Master's degrees.  Strathmore is the first private university to award a Masters degree in IT. Eight graduands will be awarded Masters of Science in Information Technology (MSIT), and 14 graduands will be awarded Post Graduate Diploma in Education Management (PGDEM).

The award of the degree is testimony to Strathmore's commitment to be a research driven university. Beginning July 2007, the University committed itself to spend 4% of its income on research activities. "The University lays emphasis on research that apart from making significant contribution to new knowledge, can at the same time lead to innovation and academic entrepreneurship," says Prof John Odhiambo, the University's Vice-Chancellor.

During the ceremony, Strathmore will award 84 Bachelor of Business Information Technology (BBIT) degrees, and 208 Bachelor of Commerce. It will also award 216 undergraduate diplomas and recognize 286 School of Accountancy graduands who have passed their final ACCA, CPA, and CPS exams.
