Ms Yvonne Agyei, Director, Google's Global University and Mr Joseph Mucheru, Google's Office Lead in Kenya
With one member of staff, the Google's Nairobi office is hungry for local talent to hire. The Nairobi office is the second in Africa after Cairo, Egypt office which has been operational since 2006.

Fielding questions from Strathmore University students on Monday, 13th August 2007, Ms Louise Welch, Google's Project Manager, Global University Programs said Google is keen to take students on internship. Ms Welch also said Google is recruiting for the office in diverse areas including software engineering, finance and sales.

Ms Yvonne Agyei, Director, Google's Global University Programs expressed optimism that students and staff at Strathmore and other Kenyan universities would seize the opportunity to develop their programming skills and position themselves as entrepreneurs in ICT sector. She indicated that Google is investing in a series of conferences to educate students and academics on various products on offer from Google.

Mr Joseph Mucheru, the Office Lead in Kenya and the only staff member in Google's Kenya office said the company is looking for interns and contractors especially to improve the quality of Google maps. Mucheru pointed out that one of the goals of Google in Kenya was to make local content more accessible. Ms Lyndsey Toepen of Google's New Business Development also attended the lively session with students and staff.

The University is keen on developing closer relations with Google to the benefit of both students and faculty in areas of research, systems development, internship and even job placements.
