  Ford Foundation gives SU $100,000

The Ford Foundation has given Strathmore University a U$100,000 grant for support to implement and document a university-wide information system. The funds will be used to support the implementation of the Kuali Financial Management System (KFMS); and to sensitize other universities and institutions that offer tertiary education in East Africa on the benefits of automating their business processes using open-source applications.

Strathmore University has successfully automated various applications to manage its administrative and academic operations under the direction of Strathmore Research and Consultancy Centre (SRCC). These include Academic Management, Finances, Library and eLearning systems. Most of these applications are open source and represent a very cost effective solution that could easily be ported to other institutions of Universities in the region. Strathmore is spearheading the Elimu Project as a project of collaboration between Higher Learning institutions in the region to adapt and implement its systems in other Universities.
