Members of Bachelor of Business Information Technology (BBIT) buried a former classmate, Antony Mboya Owala on 16th November 2007. Anthony pursued a Diploma in Business Information Technology (DBIT) in Strathmore between January 2006 and April 2007.

Anthony was an only child. His former classmates were very supportive of his mother, Svetlana Owala who is the only surviving member of Anthony's immediate family. Anthony's father passed away in 2006.

After leaving SU, Anthony joined Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology (JKUAT) where he pursued Electrical Engineering. He was diagnosed with kidney failure shortly after he joined JKUAT.

In what was evidence of his strength of spirit, Anthony strived to live a normal life. He attended classes until 7th November 2007, the day he passed away. "I spent a lot more time with him. He was ever happy and ready to share views with everyone. Yeah, it was a great loss," says Oscar, a close friend of his.

A Requiem Mass was held for Anthony at the Consolata Shrine, Westlands preceding his burial at Langata Cemetery. Following a Russian custom, there was the final send off ceremony held at the cemetery on 16th December - 40 days after his death. His mother is of Russian extraction.
