  Hockey Team wins Easter tournament

Strathmore University men's Hockey team, the Gladiators lifted the Kenya Hockey Union 2008 Easter tournament after beating Wazalendo in a hotly contested final that ended 2–1 in Strathmore's favor on Monday, 24th March. In the tournament that took four days, Strathmore was slotted in pool A alongside Karate Axiom, University of Nairobi, Nairobi Simba, Goan Institute, and Police.

In their opening game, Gladiators beat University of Nairobi 1–0. The goal scored by Ali Musa. The second game against Police ended in a barren draw. In the third game, Gladiators overcame Karate Axiom 2–0. Davies Wanangwe and Fred Oracha being the scorers.

In the final group match, Gladiators beat bitter rivals Nairobi Simba by a solitary goal scored by sensational under 21 national team forward Samuel Wokila to book a place in the semifinals. In the semifinals, Gladiators beat KCA 1–0. Ali Musa was the scorer. 

In the hotly contested final, Gladiators beat Wazalendo 2–1. Allan Iningu who is also in the Under 21 national team was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.

Gladiatiors, the East Africa Club champions, won the tournament without losing a game and without a coach. Their former coach, the late Eric Shiahale is yet to be replaced.
