Mass for Don Alvaro, first Prelate of Opus Dei

There will be Holy Mass at the University chapel on Saturday, 12th April to pray for the Servant of God, Bishop Alvaro Portillo, the first successor St Josemaria as head of Opus Dei and the prelature’s first Prelate. The Mass will begin at 11am. Confessions will be heard from 10:30am onwards.

Don Alvaro passed away on 23rd March 1994. The Congregation for the Causes of the Saints opened two tribunals to study his life. One tribunal is in the Diocese of Rome and the other in the Prelature of Opus Dei. The congregation prepares everything necessary for the pope to be able to set forth new examples of holiness. Opus Dei, a Prelature of the Catholic Church safeguards and fosters the moral and spiritual values in the University. The Prelate of Opus Dei is the Chancellor of the University.
