Dr Freddie Acosta	John Matogo

Dr Freddie Acosta, the Director for Academics and Research, and Mr John Matogo, an instructor in the Faculty of Information Technology represented the University in a Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) certification planning workshop held in Johanessburg between 15th and 17th October 2008. The workshop was organised by Inwent's ict@innovation project.

The workshop brought together trainers and FOSS experts from different countries in East and Southern Africa to plan and strategise the development of a FOSS course. The two also made a presentation of Strathmore's experience in implementing its open source software like the Kuali Financial System, Koha Library System and Moodle eLearning System. Strathmore was the only academic institution from Kenya at the workshop.
