  5th DBIT Class Graduates

A farewell lunch for the 5th class of Diploma in Business Information Technology (DBIT) was held on Friday, 4th May 2007. Speaking to the graduands, parents, instructors some staff members of the university, Dr Florence Oloo, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) said the university was so far pleased with the performance of the past graduates of the programme in the job market and in the Bachelor of Business Information Technology (BBIT) degree course.

Giving opening remarks, Miss Rose Wahome, the Manager, Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) observed the graduands have a life-long relationship with the university. She urged them to be persistent and stick to it in a spirit of stick-to-itiviness. “You have achieved something but you can and should achieve more,” she enthused.

Derrick Lung'aho, the students' representative, hailed the informal relationship students have with instructors. He also remarked the course had a good blend of practical skills and presented challenges such as working under minimum supervision on the final project. And these challenges made students more responsible.

Major Kaigwa, father to Mark Kaigwa, who spoke on behalf of the parents said he was happy with the quality of education at Strathmore. He noted that his son had transformed for better since joining the university and is interested in pursuing BBIT. The event succeeded in bringing together parents, students, staff and university administration in celebrating the graduands' achievements. A sumptuous meal at the University cafeteria crowned off the ceremony.
