Strathmore University launched its corporate strategic plan for years 2007-2010 on Monday, 10th September 2007. Vice Chancellor Prof John Odhiambo said the plan will guide the university's management for the time it will be in place.
Prof Odhiambo said that the implementation of the plan is the task of every member of the University. "Members of staff should own the strategy and the results of it," he said.
He added that the management board of the University will provide the infrastructure necessary to implement the plan. An inter-departmental Strategy Committee headed by the Academic Registrar, Mr Patrick Shabaya will spearhead the strategy's implementation. Mrs Catherine Muchira Gatei, the Quality Assurance Officer is the committee's secretary; Mr Martin Wanjohi, the ICT Director; and Mr Marcos Migeri, the Director of University Relations will be the other members of the committee.
In his opening remarks, the University Secretary, Dr Charles Sotz said the university recognized two orders of knowledge – faith and reason. He said the institution had expanded very fast since it was granted a letter of interim authority to operate as a university in the year 2002.
"We have introduced many systems and products in a very short time. The implementation has not always been very smooth since many things have been done simultaneously. The strategic plan should help us streamline our operations," he said. |
