Foundation Director Seeks Support for SU

Kenya has not yet qualified for the US government's Millennium Challenge Account; Mr Thomas Pyle, Director of Strathmore University Foundation (SUF) found out on 14th July 2005. Mr Pyle and Mr. David Ndolo, a Strathmore Alumnus based in the USA were attending a meeting of the African American Institute. The Millennium Challenge Account is an innovative US government assistance programme and so far only Cape Verde and Madagascar have qualified from Africa.

Mr Pyle and Mr Ndolo were studying how Kenya and Strathmore University could benefit from the Millennium Challenge Account. After the meeting the two paid Congressman Chris Smith's a visit where they discussed possible support for Strathmore projects. Congressman Chris Smith is the Chairman of the African subcommittee in Congress and has expressed interest in the work Strathmore University is doing in East Africa.
