Dr Acosta's Teaching Case Bought

University of Pretoria's Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) bought 73 copies of a teaching case on LawAfrica firm written by Dr Freddie Acosta of SU under the supervision of Prof. Lluis Renart of IESE Business School. GIBS ordered the case on 29th March 2007 and paid three dollars per copy for the case. More...

Rev Fr Anthony Gichuki Njugi was ordained priest by the Bishop Javier Echevarria, the Prelate of Opus Dei and Chancellor of Strathmore University on Saturday, 26th May 2007 in Rome. Fr Anthony was a student in the School of Accountancy (SOA) from 1994 to 1998. Afterwards, he worked for Swift Global in Nairobi and Kyoga Foundation in Uganda. More...

Strathmore University rugby team better known as "Leos" extended their lead in the Eric Shirley Shield (ESS) Kenya Rugby Football Union (KRFU) league by beating Kisumu RFC in Kisumu 22–12 on 19th May. Library gets KShs 13 million Donation

Limmat Stiftung, a foundation based in Switzerland awarded Strathmore University a grant of €150,000 (KShs 13,000,000) to enhance the quality of its library collection. Shrine of the Holy Family under Construction

IHEDS Three Year Teacher Enhancement Programme

The University's Institute of Humanities, Education and Development Studies (IHEDS) will on Monday 23rd April 2007, begin a three year programme aimed at enhancing leadership skills for head teachers country wide under its Teachers Enhancement Programme (TEP). The programme is projected to cost Kshs 26 million programme and will be funded by Project Harambee, an initiative which promotes educational programmes in Africa. Strathmore's Year II Case Studies Launched

On Friday 30th March 2007, Strathmore University launched its Year 2 case studies. Eight case studies were launched at a ceremony held at the Nairobi Serena Hotel. The Keynote address was given by Mr David Nalo, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Trade and Industry. Mr Nalo lauded the effort as one that would go a long way in strengthening business education in universities, through its relevance, quality and linkages with industry players, and in particular the small business people. Japanese Govt to Fund Language Lab … and a Short Alumni Re-union

On Thursday, March 29, 2007, Strathmore University Vice-Chancellor Prof John Odhiambo signed a contract document presented by Mr Ian Wairua, the Education and Information Officer, at the Embassy of Japan in Nairobi.

The contract is for US$22,244 grant from the government of Japan. The funds will be used to equip a language laboratory which is expected to be operational by July; the beginning of the next academic year. It is also expected the Japanese ambassador will come to commission the lab once it is complete. Watch this space. More...
