Olkejuado High School

School Motto: Strive for Excellence

VISION: To produce students of high integrity who appreciate hard work as a virtue

MISSION: To produce well rounded individuals who will pursue courses a higher institutions of learning

Brief History

The school was started as an Intermediate Primary School from standard 4 to 8 in 1958 and was then called Maasai Government (M.G.S). In 1965, the school was upgraded to Secondary School and was then known as Olkejuado Secondary School (O.S.S). The first form one students joined the school with only one girl, then Grace Nemayian, Adm NO. 042, now Mrs. Konchellah.

By 1968, the school had an intake of 2 more classes which could not be acccommodated in the compound due to lack of space. One class was then taken to Narok Secondary School and the other to Kiserian Seminary. In this same year, the United States, through USAID put up new classrooms, dormitories and other facilities. In 1969, the Narok and Kiserian classes then joined the school to form a three stream school. In 1977, a harambee stream was started. The government took over the harambee stream in May 1982; hence the school was approved to be a four streamed school of 640 students. In 1979, an advanced level Science class was started and the school was then renamed Olkejuado High School.

In 1986, 8-4-4 system of education was started and in 1988, a second Advanced Level, Arts Class was started on harambee basis. In 1989, our last form six class sat for their examinations and the first 8-4-4 candidates sat for KCSE Examination.

To mention a few people who have gone through this institution in the past, we have:

  1. Dr. Titus Naikuni - Adm No. 609, CEO Kenya Airways
  2. Hon. Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Joseph Nkaiserry, Ass. Minister Defence
  3. Eng. Ole Nkadayo
  4. Mr. Eliud Parsankul - Adm No. 216 (Rtd D.C)
  5. Mr. Saruni Sane - Adm No. 211
  6. Rt. Rev. Jeremiah Taama  - Adm No. 140; Bisholp ACK Church, Kajiado
  7. Mr. Jacob Ole Kipury
  8. Mr. S.M. Ole Kingi
  9. Mr. Paul Yatich
  10. Mr. S. Ole Nkanae (TSC Commissioner)
  11. Dr. Jacob Miaron - PS Ministry of Culture
  12. Dr. Naomi Kipury
  13. Dr. Solomon Rianto, Director KEMRI, BOG Chairman, Olkejuado High School

With the introduction of free primary education in the year 2003, our enrolllment has gone upto to a population of over a thousand and the school is now a five streamed school. Enrollment is as follows:
Form One 272, Form Two 276, Form Three 250 and Form Four 234. The pattern is due to frequent droughts which lead to migration of parents who usually come back around late March when all places have been filled. We are however forced to accommodate them.

We are the oldest and biggest school in the district. There is need for additional facilities such as a dining hall, library, Computer lab, General Science laboratories, playing fields, teachers' houses, 4 classrooms, a dormitory, fence for the school and a school bus.

In the last four years we have built one dormitory, equipped Computer Laboratory, drilled a bore-hole, equipped library and general renovations, chairs and lockers.
