Machakos Girls High School

School Statistics

The total student population is approximately 800 students. The number of students taking Computer Studies is distributed across the following classes.

ClassNo. of ITstudents
Form One 200
Form Two 200
Form Three 12
Form Four(candidate class) 12
Total IT students 424 students

According to Mrs Matolo, the Head Computer Studies teacher, the girls have a lot of interest in pursuing IT but are mainly hampered by lack of computing facilities. The reduced number of students taking the course in form 3 and 4 confirms this fact. According to the KCSE curriculum, Computer Studies is an elective unit competing against other group 5 subjects such as business studies, Home Science e.tc. Majority of the students opt for the Business Studies elective because of its non-technical nature.

Resources

The school has two teachers for Computer Studies attending to the 424 students.

Mrs Matolo, Head Computer Studies teacher, is a resource person for the project. She is an Examiner for the Kenya National Examination Council.
