HEALTH CARE WORKSHOP

Risk Management in the Domestic Supply Chain for Health Commodities

Strathmore Governance Centre organized a workshop on the theme: ‘Risk Management in the Domestic Supply Chain for Health Commodities’, on 17th September 2008. The objective of the Workshop was to create a forum for stakeholders in the health sector to come together and discuss issues of risk management in the supply chain for pharmaceuticals, non-pharmaceuticals and equipment. During the workshop, participants examined the risks inherent in the key decision points in the supply chain of commodities, and gave recommendations on how these risks can be mitigated. In addition, participants discussed capacity building for professionals within the supply chain in the context of managing the risks identified.

Individuals representing the government, research and educational institutions, hospitals, medical supply agencies, professional bodies and development partners attended the workshop.

The recommendations of the workshop provide potential areas of research on aspects of governance in the supply chain for health commodities in Kenya.

The report for the proceedings of the workshop will be available online in next coming weeks.
