GEORGE NJENGA

Njenga

Mr George N. Njenga is an accounting professional and educator at Strathmore University in Nairobi Kenya. He has recently been appointed coordinator of Strathmore University’s MBA course of study beginning with 50 students in July 2005. In this role, Mr. Njenga is responsible for the entire formation and execution of the university’s plan for it’s MBA initiative and executive business education.

Mr Njenga has enjoyed a distinguished career at Strathmore University. Prior to his new appointment, Mr. Njenga served as Strathmore’s director of the school of accountancy and distance learning center. He was responsible for the school’s faculty, function and development of courses preparing students for their CPA examinations. (Strathmore trains 2/3 of all of Kenya’s CPA’s).Prior to this position, Mr. Njenga served as director of personnel and administration at Strathmore university, managing staff of over 200 members and consultants and directing the school’s administrative details. He begun his career at Strathmore as a registrar of finance, in which he enhanced the school’s financial controls, improved financial reporting procedures and assisted in implementing the university’s computerization of accounts.

Before entering the education sector, he served in the private sector as a senior auditor at Ernst & young in Nairobi. In this position, he performed audits, investigations and management analysis for client accounts and management systems. He served on a select team within the firm to investigate the local operations of bank credit and commerce international, a major international bankruptcy case. He also acted as receiver on the firm’s behalf of golden beach hotel in a significant local insolvency case.

In addition to his professional duties, he is a director of Pacis Insurance company plc, board member of Waumini Insurance brokers and medical supplies (MEDS) plc in Nairobi.

At Strathmore he also lectures on the subject of ethics and management and serves as a career and personal mentor to many students.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting (magna cum laude) and his masters of business administration degree in strategic management from the United States International University in Nairobi Kenya. Mr. Njenga received his CPA training at Strathmore College, predecessor to Strathmore University.
