TEACHING SCHEDULE .

The students are expected to attend four hours every day for three weeks. The four hours each day include both theory and practical lessons. We have Full time and part time classes. For part time classes we have three hours per day and it’s inclusive of 5 hours on Saturdays.

TOPICS COVERED

The following objectives will be met in the course:

IT Essentials

  • Define Information Technology (IT) and describe the components of a personal computer
  • Describe how to protect self, equipment and environment from accidents, damage and contamination
  • Step by step assembly of a computer and install and navigate an operating system
  • Explain and perform preventative maintenance
  • Apply good communication skills
  • Configure computers to attach to an existing network

CCNA 1

  1. Understand physical (MAC) and logical (IP) addressing and network routing techniques
  2. Be familiar with TCP/IP protocols
  3. Be aware of a range of Physical/Data Link/Network Layer problems
  4. Appreciate the troubleshooting process and be able to do simple fault finding
  5. Be able to establish a small LAN as part of a campus network

CCNA 2

  • Be aware of LANS and WANS: devices and technologies
  • Interact with the Cisco router user interface, understanding components and a range of commands and configurations
  • Comprehend the technicalities of TCP/IP protocol suite
  • Understand significance of IP addressing on routed networks
  • Be familiar with principles of network management

CCNA 3

  • Understand how to solve typical LAN performance issues, and be able to choose technologies and enhance LAN scalability and security
  • Understand how LAN switching technologies are implemented and the relationship between switched LANS and VLANS
  • Extend an understanding of network protocols to include IPX and demonstrate proficiency with using IPX in situations where IP may also be used

CCNA 4

Understand how to solve typical LAN performance issues and be able to choose technologies that enhance LAN scalability and security

Proficiency in designing and implementing LAN networks and interconnecting them

Demonstrate the correct application of router security features including access lists, solve common security and management issues

Understand the role and capabilities of WAN technologies and be able to design WAN networks that satisfy common operational constraints

 

Upon completion of CCNA 1 – 4

CCNA Security

  • Identify Modern network security threats
  • Know how to secure the devices
  • Know how to securing the LAN
  • Cryptographic Systems
  • Understand Virtual Private Networks
  • Managing, Secure and troubleshoot Network On completion of each unit there is a certificate issued.

How to Apply

Obtain the admission forms from Strathmore University admissions office and fill them. Upon completion submit to the cashiers and immediately will be booked for a class.

Pre Requisites

Candidates are required to have done: IT Essentials and Basic Ms office Applications
