Help from the Government of Spain for Strathmore

5th February 2004
Spanish Ambassador

On the 5th February, 2004, Strathmore University and the United States International University (USIU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Spanish Government by which the two universities will receive help through the provision of a full-time lecturer for Spanish Language. Strathmore already offers language training (in French, Spanish, German and Japanese) to all its undergraduate degree students. This assistance from the Spanish Government will significantly increase the university's language training capacity, including the provision of books and other teaching materials. The signing ceremony, which was attended by some 150 persons, including staff and students from both universities, was graced by the presence of His Excellency Mr Perez-Hernandez, Director General of the Agency for International Cooperation of the Spanish Government and the Spanish Ambassador in Kenya, His Excellency Mr Jimenez y Abascal, who are seen in the accompanying photo, together with Dr Freida Brown, Vice Chancellor of USIU and Professor John Odhiambo, Vice Chancellor of Strathmore University, immediately after signing the Memorandum.
