Strathmore University Board of Trustees Chairman Prof. Terry Ryan on Friday, January 23, 2004 debated the effects of globalization on international higher education at a Forum organized by the International Finance Corporation education to be simulcast around the world on the internet. The debate was part of an inaugural  "International Forum on Investment in Private Education" organized by the International Finance Corporation. Prof. John Odhiambo, Vice-Chancellor (President) of Strathmore University, also attended this Forum. Focusing on private higher education investment in developing countries, the event brought together investors, senior managers, and leading professionals from over 50 private sector organizations in 30 countries to address important issues facing higher education.

Discussions focused on how the private sector can strengthen the role it plays in the financing and delivery of good quality higher education in developing economies and the need to share ideas about best practices.
