Evans joined the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group in April 2007. He runs the Efficient Securities Markets Institutional Development (ESMID Africa) program that aims to foster the development of properly functioning securities markets in African countries. Previously Evans was Vice President of AIG Global Investment Group and Head of Investments at the company's East African subsidiary where he led an investment team that was collectively responsible for US$800 million assets under management. In addition to overseeing the research and investment processes he managed segregated portfolios valued at US$330 million. He is widely travelled within Africa and has investment experience in a number of countries in Africa. He also previously worked at the Nairobi Stock Exchange where he headed the Trading Operations and Delivery & Settlements functions.
Evans has been actively involved in deepening the capital markets in Kenya over the years. As a member of the market leaders forum he worked with the Central Bank of Kenya to successfully restructure Kenya’s domestic debt over the last five years. He was also instrumental in developing a market yield curve for the Kenyan market, supported by Reuters, used to price fixed income instruments in Kenya. He also developed the AIG (EA) 27 Share Index, a widely used equities benchmark. His Masters' dissertation was titled "Dimensions in the Development of Kenya Government Bond Index".
He holds MBA and CPA qualifications and is a member of several professional bodies including the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya. He is currently enrolled for a doctorate program. He has written articles for a number of international and local publications on the area of financial markets. He loves theatre and poetry and has compiled a collection of poems ‘Voice of Reason’, which he hopes to publish soon. |
