Washing cars to raise funds for worthy causes The Community Outreach Program Club carried out a car wash activity at the University on Saturday, 25th September.
Under the leadership of a new member, Joram Mathenge, COP members put their hands to work and not even the scorching sun could wilt their enthusiasm.
The activity was part of a fund-raising initiative for three COP projects. The club aims to raise Kshs.100,000. The Saturday activity raised Kshs19,050. Special thanks to Giuda Taddeo for his zeal that ensured the members present were actively involved and owned the project. The students looked like naturals during the activity.
The three projects COP is raising money for are: Funds to buy books for Holy Trinity Primary School in Kariakomo (Meru South). School fees for Margaret Wanjiru Mburu at St Francis Girls High School Mangu (Thika). Margaret is a top student in the school but her family stopped supporting her and instead became an obstacle her pursuit for education.
The third project is raising school fees for Philip Okoth at Ambira High School in Unguja. Philip was the top student in KCPE in Uref Primary School in 2008 but could not afford high school fees.
COP invites all those who seek to join to the club and make hearts smile to come to its meetings on Mondays at 12.30pm in Lecture-Theater 2. |
