IMG_7637 (1)The Staff Giving week was held last week which saw more awareness and publicity of the Staff Giving Campaign.  The special week saw 137 new members of staff joining the Campaign.

The Staff Giving Campaign entails staff members giving small monthly donations towards helping needy students. The campaign has grown from 14 members in December 2014 to 243 members in November 2015.

One of the champions of the project, Mrs Lillian Ollows, stated that so far KES 438,247 thousand shillings had been donated as of 31 October 2015. Of this, 140,542 had been used for Accommodation, Meals, Stipend and Bursaries. She pointed out that some departments had 100% participation included Admissions, Communications, Advancement, Transport and Financial Aid.

In an address to the members of staff, Vice Chancellor Professor John Odhiambo pointed out that it was important that no deserving student should miss out on an opportunity to study at Strathmore. He said that though friends, sponsors, staff, alumni and parents, this dream can come true.  Prof Odhiambo also stated that the MB would match up to whatever had been raised by the members of staff and pledged a personal donation of KES 50,000 to the fund.

After the VCs address a few more staff members signed up for the campaign and the 1,000,000 Shilling mark was  reached.
