David Mwindi, 34, is the Head of Audit for East Africa at Standard Chartered. He has previously worked with KPMG (Kenya) and PWC in New York and has over 10 years experience in accounting and auditing. He has also been a part-time ACCA lecturer at the University for over nine years.
He says his experience at Strathmore University really modelled his career path as he met the likes of Dr Jim McFie who was a great inspiration. He has worked for four employers before his present position at Stanchart.
“The Strathmore University Educational model is very good as its theoretical and practical combination helps to create forums for students to interact with people in the professional world.”
David adds that the emphasis on Ethics in Strathmore is highly necessary in the business world given that so much can go wrong with the economy if sound judgment is not made in the business decisions.
David Mwindi was listed in the Business weekly Top 40 under 40 in 2011 and says one good way to be good in something is to practice consistency.
“Sometimes the best of sportsmen aren’t the most talented but the hardest workers.”
