Cynthia Ichaminya (DBIT 2010), recently got the opportunity to work with the Norwegian Peace Corps in one of their NGOs called Leadership Foundation. This was built on the need to design innovative solutions to one of society’s most pressing social “challenges” like the increasing global diversity.
Leadership Foundation takes up different projects like the Nordic Somali Youth Summit; which will be held in Kenya next year. Cynthia is currently working on a project called ‘Make-A-Wish Norway’.
Make-A-Wish was started in the United States with the aim of granting the wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions. Through this they are able to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. This organization is run by volunteers and relies on donations and grants.
Cynthia’s main tasks include getting the organization registered and making proposals towards getting grants that can enable the organization to start building up its financial stability. Though this, they will be able to grant wishes to children in Norway.
It is her dream to start a similar organization in Africa someday.
Cynthia Ichaminya sits on the FIT Alumni Chapter Committee.
