Welcome message

Message from Academic Development Unit (ADU) Chairperson

First and foremost I would like to thank each and every lecturer for the good work you are doing in Strathmore University and in building our Nation.
Strathmore University’s Mission is

“the advancement of education through teaching, scholarship and service to society by providing an all round quality education in an atmosphere of freedom and responsibility; creating a culture of continuous improvement; fostering high moral standards; and developing a spirit of service and respect for others”.

And all of us are doing a good job and a number a great one but we would like all of us to do a great job as argued by Collins in his book “Good to Great” that if social institutions were to move from good to great then they have to start with their mission.

For us to become great, there are a number of things that we can do but the most important as stated by Tapscott and William, in their book “Wikinomics” is collaboration.  They state that the collective knowledge, capability and resources embodied within us lecturers should be mobilized to achieve more.

At SU we can pool our resources in areas such as course design, curriculum review, teaching observation, setting and moderation of examinations and discussion of theory on Academic Practice etc.

ADU’s objective is to make it possible for both external and internal (i.e. faculty, interfaculty, disciplinary and interdisciplinary) collaborations, thus enabling us to share our great ideas.

ADU looks forward to a productive and collaborative academic year as concerns the teaching and learning process.
Thank you.
