To qualify as a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), you will have to demonstrate that in addition to passing the examinations, you have met the ACCA's practical experience requirements. Both forms of assessment focus on your ability to satisfy the technical, managerial, interpersonal and ethical requirements of the role of professional accountants.
The practical experience requirements have been defined in terms of competence, which defines standards of performance or best practices for activities within five key roles: financial and regulatory obligations, taxation, business and audit, and management.
Minimum Qualifications
- A-Level (at least 2 Principal passes)
- University Degree from a recognised university
- IMIS (Institute for the Management of Information Systems) Parts I and II holders
- ABE Certificate (Association of Business Executives)
- CPA Parts I and II holders
- Diplomas from a recognised polytechnic, e.g. Kenya Polytechnic
MSER (Mature Students Entry Route)
- O-Level, KCSE or any other equivalent qualification
- Students must be at least 21 years of age.
Exemptions
Students holding university degrees are eligible for exemptions:
- Relevant degrees, e.g. Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Option)
Exemption: The whole of Foundation Stage
- Nonrelevant degrees, e.g. Bachelor of Science or Arts
Exemption: TWO (2) papers in Foundation Stage, i.e. Legal and Organisation Framework.
Note: These exemptions are subject to confirmation by the ACCA Board.
